Adventure into the Heart of Perućica Forest

Your journey begins early in the morning with a meeting in front of our agency. From there, we embark on a scenic 50-60 minute drive to the starting point, Dragoš Sedlo (1260 mamsl), in a rugged off-road vehicle.

Before plunging into the depths of the Perućica Forest, we’ll visit spectacular viewpoint, Dragoš Sedlo. These vantage point offer breathtaking panoramas of the ancient forest, the majestic Skakavac Waterfall—one of the highest in Bosnia at 70 meters—and the surrounding mountain peaks. These stops provide an excellent opportunity for photos and a chance to prepare yourself for the wilderness adventure ahead.

Descending into the heart of the Perućica Forest, we’ll follow a winding trail that leads to the base of the Skakavac Waterfall. The hike takes approximately three hours and is not for the faint-hearted. The terrain is steep, covered with fallen leaves and branches that make it slippery, as the forest remains untouched by human hands. This natural environment is part of what makes the Perućica Forest one of Europe’s last primeval forests, offering a rare glimpse into an ecosystem untouched for centuries.

On the trail, the tranquil Suški Stream will capture your attention, with its gentle flow and mini cascades that break the silence of the forest. This pristine stream adds to the enchanting atmosphere of Perućica, making every step a connection to nature’s raw beauty.

Upon reaching the waterfall, we’ll take a break for a well-deserved lunch amidst the lush greenery. The sounds of cascading water and the vibrant life around you make this an unforgettable experience.

After lunch, we return to Dragoš Sedlo, heading back to Tjentište.This meaningful stop concludes your adventure into the remarkable Perućica Forest, a journey of natural wonder and historical reflection.
